As has now become known, China lifted the existing censorship for OnlyFans on 29 November. The domain is now apparently accessible in the country without restriction. This was reported unanimously by ‘CNN’ and other media, as well as various posts on X. The website greatfire.org, which specialises in reporting on internet censorship, has been documenting this for several days (current screenshot above). Only time will tell whether OnlyFans will remain permanently accessible from China. Some media speculate that the government’s decision has to do with a problematic job situation.
It is well known that creators on OnlyFans not only offer adult content, but also harmless content such as cookery shows, yoga classes and much more. Pornography remains strictly forbidden in China. Creators active there therefore still risk consequences.
This also applies elsewhere. Anyone who receives payments from the operating company Fenix Ltd. on their account can expect unpleasant questions from their bank or, in extreme cases, cancellation of their account. This applies to numerous countries worldwide – including Germany. Switching to other countries where banks react less hysterically is also problematic. OnlyFans only accepts accounts for payment in the country in which the respective creator is resident. This means that anyone working from Germany, for example, cannot simply open an account in the Czech Republic and redirect payments from Fenix Ltd.
