Buch Afiliiale Management von Stefan Mühlbauer

Also available in: Deutsch (German)

Stefan “Affpal” Mühlbauer published a book entitled “Learn the best Methods for Affiliate Management”, which shows the path from the basics to “Elite Manager” for newbies, experts and team leaders.

The author is probably well known to most of those active in the industry: Stefan has been working in sales and marketing for over 20 years and has specialised in online marketing as Sales Director and Business Developer since 2010. After seven years with a major provider in the adult industry, Stefan decided to devote more time to his daughter and his personal development. He finally started working for the European dating advertiser “Masters in Cash” as Head of the Business Development Department.

To a certain extent, this concentrated experience flows into the book in a condensed form. Stefan passes on the knowledge he has acquired over the years in affiliate management in a generally understandable way to all those who are new to the profession or are already in it and want to progress.

“Inspiring others to reach their personal heights and training them in new skills has become one of my greatest passions.”

The main part of the book is about the affiliate manager’s daily business, such as finding new partners, reactivating existing ones and developing the business in general – all clearly explained with case studies. But first things first:

What is affiliate marketing?

The first step is to define the field of work itself. Because even career changers or those with experience in other areas of marketing first have to familiarise themselves with “referral marketing”. Once this has been achieved, the book takes you by the hand, so to speak, and delves into the depths of the business.

Different types of affiliates

Before you can dive into affiliate management, you should know the different types and subtypes of affiliates. Stefan Mühlbauer describes the exact differences between SEO affiliates, social affiliates, community influencers, mailers and mediabuyers.

Important for all those who want to enter this field: How do I apply? What qualifications exactly do I need? How does the job interview work? The book describes all these processes clearly.

Equally important: What tools do I need as an affiliate manager? Stefan covers a wide range of topics, from CRM and project management to personal branding.

Acting professionally at events and conferences

Many people are “thrown in at the deep end” when they are sent to industry events for the first time as an affiliate manager. Here, Stefan Mühlbauer shares his own experiences from “over 250 conferences”. After all, not everyone who is new to the industry is immediately familiar with terms such as “speed networking”, “meet market” and “show floor”. The focus here is on attracting, processing and following up. But “etiquette rules” are not neglected either: the correct way to deal with alcohol and sexual encounters is explained, as is how to avoid certain topics of discussion, such as religion and politics.

To round it all off, there is a list of terms and abbreviations that will be helpful to many. Most people will be familiar with “CPL”, “CPC” or “CPM”. The subtle differences between “CPA” and “PPS” could be more difficult. Stefan explains the abbreviations clearly and straightforwardly.

Conclusion

With his first book, Stefan “Affpal” Mühlbauer delivers a valuable guide that has practically never existed in this form before. The need for knowledge is particularly high in this sector. After all, today’s affiliate has little to do with the “webmaster” who first saw the light of day in the business world over 20 years ago with the emergence of online marketing. The industry has changed dramatically – and not just in the adult biz. And it is precisely this new situation that the book reflects in a compact form. In some places it reads so interestingly that you wish Stefan had gone into a little more depth. Overall, the book is a more than helpful guide and companion in daily business for all new and “old hands” in affiliate management and a clear recommendation from the CASZIN editorial team.
