Lovense Distance Index 2026: The First Usage-Based Analysis of Remote Intimacy – and What Cam Portals and Models Can Learn From It

Lovense has released the Distance Index 2026, which the company describes as the world’s first white paper on remote intimacy built entirely on real usage data. The report is based on 5.036 million anonymized sessions that couples conducted via the Lovense Remote app between October 2025 and September 2026. The average session lasted 20.4 minutes; combined, these connections add up to more than 100 million minutes of play.

Unlike earlier studies that relied mainly on self-reported survey answers, the Distance Index draws on actual session records. It reveals the hours couples choose to connect, the borders they cross, and how their behavior changes on special days.

Valentine’s Day and the Day After: Short Peaks, Longer Continuations

On February 14, 2026, researchers recorded around 22,000 remote dates – 49 percent more than on comparable weekdays. However, the median session that night lasted only 6.6 minutes, shorter than on an ordinary day. On February 15 the median duration rose to 11.7 minutes, 77.6 percent longer than on Valentine’s Day itself. The data suggest that many couples deliberately extended the holiday into a second night.

Remote Play as an Evening Routine

Most connections took place between 8 and 11 p.m. local time, with the absolute peak between 10 and 11 p.m. On 37.8 percent of the days a partner connected, they returned for a second round. Remote play has therefore become a nightly habit for many users rather than an occasional event.

The Busiest Connection Routes: Borders Barely Matter Anymore

Chart Fernintimität

Eleven of the 20 busiest routes in the report cross national borders. The strongest international connections were:

  • Canada–US: approximately 26,000 sessions
  • UK–US: approximately 22,500 sessions
  • Australia–US: approximately 11,800 sessions

The Nigeria–US and Netherlands–US routes also rank among the top 20. Within the United States, couples connected about 199,000 times. On every cross-border route, one partner lives outside the US. The technology makes distance irrelevant: a tap on the Remote app screen travels over the internet to the partner’s phone and is passed to the toy via Bluetooth. No extra hardware is required.

Among purely domestic routes, couples in Japan stayed connected the longest. One in ten sessions there lasted more than 62 minutes.

A Market No One Officially Counts

No government systematically tracks long-distance couples, so the size of this market has remained largely invisible. The United Nations counted 304 million international migrants in 2024 – nearly twice the figure of 1990. In the US, 12.5 percent of couples who married in 2023 were living apart from their spouse, according to researchers at Bowling Green State University. The Distance Index measures that demand from the usage side: more than five million connections in a single year on a single app.

“We found a lot of interesting facts in this report,” said Dan Liu, founder and CEO of Lovense. “We also saw how many couples really do use our products to stay close. That makes our work mean more to us. We believe this report shows only part of the demand for long-distance intimacy. Technology can give love a touch that reaches across mountains and oceans.”

Technical Background and Availability

Lovense launched its first app-controlled toys in 2013. Every session analyzed in the Index ran on Lovense Remote, the hub of the Lovense ecosystem. The same connection allows couples to sync toys to music, video, live streams, and games built with Lovense’s Unity and Unreal plugins. Outside developers can create their own apps using the public APIs. The person wearing the toy always decides how long the play lasts and can stop it at any moment.

For operators of cam portals and for models who use interactive toys, the Distance Index provides concrete insights that can help them better understand customer behavior and increase revenue.

The clear concentration on late evening hours (especially 10–11 p.m.) shows when purchasing and interaction readiness is highest. Portals can place targeted promotions, discounts on toy control, or special “late-night shows” in this time window. Models, in turn, know that a second round occurs on more than one-third of connection days – a strong argument for longer sessions or follow-up offers after the first climax.

The high number of cross-border connections (11 of the 20 top routes) underlines that the audience is international and often lives in different time zones. Camgirls and studios can conclude that English as a lingua franca and flexible scheduling remain essential. At the same time, it is worth focusing on strong origin countries such as the UK, Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, and Nigeria: targeted messaging, cultural holidays, or language skills can improve conversion in these markets.

The Valentine’s Day effect – significantly more sessions but markedly shorter duration – followed by longer sessions the next day suggests that emotional occasions generate high activation rates that users do not always convert into long sessions. Portals and models can respond by offering short, intense formats on the day itself and longer, more intensive follow-up offers the day after.

Finally, the Index shows that remote intimacy is no longer a niche phenomenon. The five million sessions and more than 100 million minutes demonstrate stable, everyday use. For the cam business this means: interactive toys are not merely an upselling feature but a central element of customer retention. Anyone who understands the patterns revealed by the Distance Index – peak times, repeat rates, international routes, and the difference between holiday and everyday sessions – can steer offers more precisely, increase dwell time, and systematically raise revenue per user.

The Lovense Distance Index 2026 makes visible for the first time what previously remained hidden: remote intimacy is measurable, plannable, and commercially relevant – especially for the professional cam industry.
