JustForFans (JFF) is celebrating its eighth anniversary and honouring the platform’s founder, Dominic Ford. He created the platform to offer artists a fan site developed by industry insiders that puts the artists at the centre. Since its launch in 2018, JFF has established itself as a major subscription platform, characterised by high payouts, global creator events, continuous product innovation and a clear focus on giving artists full control over how they present, market and monetise their work.
“I wanted a fan site that came from within the industry, not one that had entered the industry just to make money. I wanted something that truly understood the gay side of the business, where the models come first and which creates a safe space for all models. The goal has always been to build a community, not just an e-commerce platform. With the new version of the website, we hope to continue to grow and serve our community even better, always with pride, visibility and strength.”
Dominic Ford
Ford programmed the platform himself and says that the newly launched JFF 3.0 carries the same ‘creator-first’ philosophy into the future.
Target group and community aspect
JFF is primarily aimed at the LGBTQ+ community and sex workers who value a permissive, community-driven environment. Unlike OnlyFans’ broad audience, JFF’s user base is often more loyal and focused, which leads to higher engagement. The platform encourages collaboration and networking. However, getting started as a new creator often requires an existing presence in the industry or on social media, which can be challenging for newcomers.
Monetisation: revenue and commissions
A key aspect for adult content creators is monetisation. On JFF, creators keep 70% of their earnings, while the platform retains 30%. OnlyFans deducts only 20% of revenue, but JFF offers added value through additional tools. Payouts are made weekly or monthly, depending on the model. Additional sources of income include tips, paid content, referral programmes and the sale of digital products such as videos, audio stories or photo sets.
