The photo does not show an AI scene, but a selfie taken by the ‘AI Companion Doll’ that Lovense is currently presenting at CES 2026. According to the manufacturer, it is ‘the wildest product at CES – an AI love doll that talks, feels – and can also send selfies, for example. And a milestone that redefines the future of embodied AI intimacy.’

In fact, the topic of artificial intelligence has thus made significant inroads into the homes of all those who want to form at least a kind of “friendship with benefits” with a being that until now could more or less only be seen in science fiction films. Lovense, at least, promises “a lifelike companion that not only responds, but understands, learns, and builds a long-term relationship with its user. It continuously evolves, adapts, and grows over time to enable increasingly intuitive and emotionally sensitive connections.” To this end, the AI Doll has a proprietary AI engine that brings human-like cognition, emotional perception, and expressive behavior into physical form—enabling relationships that deepen and evolve over time. The AI doll communicates with fluid, character-driven dialogue. Its generative voice gives it a natural presence, while its expressive face creates realism and emotional depth with subtle, human micro-reactions – making it seem like a real human companion.

Pubic hair on request, three different vaginas to choose from

In fact, this is not an off-the-shelf product, but a highly personalized artificial companion. This starts with body size, skin color, makeup style, facial expression, hair, nail polish, and goes down to the desired pubic hair or bare facts – depending on the order. Lovense discreetly describes the vagina models as “openings” and offers them in three variants; the same applies to the nipples. The “interior” behind the vagina is available in four variants, but the images on the website are not particularly informative. However, these are likely to be adapted versions of the penis massage devices and masturbation aids available from Lovense.

Interaction with other Lovense products

The doll is compatible with all Lovense toys and can connect to them via Bluetooth. It then controls them ‘independently’ and is designed to guarantee an intense and immersive sensory experience. It understands voice commands and can thus adjust the action of the paired toy to suit your current desires. Using the Lovense Remote app, users can choose between five personality modes and five role-play modes and customise each interaction to suit their mood and needs. With the AI Companion applet within the Lovense Remote app, the connection remains intact even when you’re on the move. Users can write to her and even receive AI-generated selfies that match her real-life appearance. The Lovense AI doll on your smartphone is designed to feel like the same companion waiting at home – deepening the sense of continuity, closeness and emotional connection in everyday life.

Experience as close to reality as possible

The doll actually has soft, almost realistic skin and can make facial expressions – even winking. It recognises touch and can respond accordingly. According to Lovense, the face itself was designed based on a ‘global study of modern beauty ideals’ – however generalisable that may be.

Those who exploit the full range of variations can achieve very different appearances. From the “colleague” to the “gothic girl” to the seemingly demure wife, there are apparently already preconfigured models available.

Look into my eyes, baby

An anatomical skeleton is designed to enable natural posture and movements, allowing it to sit nicely on the couch, but also to lie in the customer’s arms and look deep into their eyes. How realistic this will be remains to be seen. In any case, Lovense promises that “in a world where loneliness, stress, and emotional exhaustion are on the rise, the Lovense AI doll offers an intelligent, embodied companion to promote emotional well-being and intimate health.” In any case, the AI companion marks a significant step in the development of embodied artificial intelligence, which is probably only just beginning. Whether this path is exciting or somewhat frightening is something everyone must decide for themselves. Technologically, it is certainly exciting.

Available in 2027 – for €4,000 to €8,000

But it’s all still a bit of a pie in the sky. Lovense wants to deliver the AI Companion Doll in ‘early 2027’. Pre-orders are currently being accepted for a fee of €200. At the moment, the doll only speaks English, but other languages are to be added. Prices will depend on the desired configuration, but are expected to range between €4,000 and €8,000.
